A Case of De Novo Positional Complex Sleep Apnea Syndrome (CompSAS)

چکیده
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is well known to often improve with non-supine positioning as opposed supine positioning. Emerging research supports a role for position management in patients central (CSA) well. We report case of de novo complex syndrome (CompSAS) 78-year-old female, who presented after car accident due unclear syncope. Diagnostic polysomnography (PSG) showed moderate OSA. A CompSAS developed under automatic positive airway pressure (APAP), while 4 years downloaded data good adherence. No significant benefit was reported adaptive servo ventilation (ASV) and BiPAP-ST, reduction CSA the noticed. Oxygen positional therapy (SPT) were considered, resulting improvement quality. Further on prevalence needed.

متن کاملComplex sleep apnea syndrome
Complex sleep apnea syndrome (CompSAS) is a distinct form of sleep-disordered breathing characterized as central sleep apnea (CSA), and presents in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients during initial treatment with a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device. The mechanisms of why CompSAS occurs are not well understood, though we have a high loop gain theory that may help to explain i...
متن کاملComplex Sleep Apnea Syndrome
Complex sleep apnea is the term used to describe a form of sleep disordered breathing in which repeated central apneas (>5/hour) persist or emerge when obstructive events are extinguished with positive airway pressure (PAP) and for which there is not a clear cause for the central apneas such as narcotics or systolic heart failure. The driving forces in the pathophysiology are felt to be ventila...

متن کاملObstructive sleep apnea syndrome and non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy: a case control study
Background: Sleep apnea is temporary cessation or absence of breathing during sleep. Significant increase in blood pressure is clinically seen in apneic episodes. The aim of this study was to examine sleep apnea syndrome as a risk factor for non- arthritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) in a case control study. Methods: Nineteen NAION patients (9 men and 10 women) and 31 age and ...
